As mentioned in the previous post, we will be having various challenges for club members through the year with the challenges changing every two to three months. The first batchof challenges begin today, September 3rd and last through October. Here are the challenges for the fall training cycle:
Most improved from 3 Left approach (straight pole)
Most improved from 3 Left approach (bent pole)
Corkscrew Challenge (September Only)
Bar Master pt.1 (September Only)
Bar Master pt.2 (October Only)
Bubka Master.
There are other additional challenges that will come up through the season, but these are the challenges that athletes have all season to improve upon or work towards. There will be prizes for the winners on the boys side and on the girls side. Let's break down each one.
Most Improved 3 Left (Straight Pole)
The athlete who improves their 3 Left straight pole pr (popup pr) the most within the two month window. These numbers will be based off the information received from the preseason survey.
Most Improved 3 Left (Bent Pole)
The athlete who improves their 3 Left bent pole pr the most within the two month window. These numbers will be based off the information received from the preseason survey.
Corkscrew Challenge
The athlete who is able to finish the most rotations during a popup or a deep swing drill within the two month window. There will be smaller prizes for those able to complete a set number of rotations.
Bar Master pt.1 and pt.2
There are two categories for this challenge, most bars cleared in a single practice and most bars cleared through the whole month. The stipulations for pt.1 require the vaulter to clear a bar within 1' of their 3 left straight pole pr (popup pr). The bars do not have to be cleared in consecutive jumps. Athletes can aim for both the single practice record and the month long record. Pt.1 lasts all of September.
Pt.2 requires the vaulter to clear bars within 1'6" of their 3 left bent pole pr. Again, athletes can aim for both the single practice record and the month long record. Pt.2 begins October 1st and finishes October 31st.
(For both pt.1 and pt.2 marks are based off information received in the preseason survey)
Bubka Master
During each testing week cycle, athletes with have the opportunity to attempt to complete as many bubkas as possible within a 1 minute time window. The athlete who completes the most will be the winner. Each athlete will get one attempt at this each testing week (Week of September 30th & Week of October 28th).
Again, there are other smaller challenges that will come up through this cycle. They may be cycle long, month long, or week long, but they will be revealed at a later time. I'm excited to see which athletes come out on top! Good luck and let the games begin!
