Bomb Squad

We got things rolling early this weekend, starting the meet off with Shot Put at 10am. We have had a group of throwers come and compete in the past, but nothing rivaled yesterday's group. The competition consisted of 12 throwers (8 boys and 4 girls). Winning on the boys side was Josh Holder of Cincinnati Christian. Holder was throwing bombs all morning, surpassing the original barriers we set up during warmups. With barriers set up properly for the competitors, the competition was underway. Holders winning throw of 53'10" surpassed the next closest marks by 8'. On the girl's side, Kennedy Cunningham of Madera won the event by a similar margin with her throw of 36'1.5". This was undoubtedly the deepest field we have ever had at one of our meets. Should be exciting to watch them in future meets!

Punching Tickets

Up next was the pole vault, with 25 vaulters. Much like last week's meet, the field consisted of many athletes from outside of QCVA (11 outside athletes). We had a strong battle between KC Halik and Tony Heath on the masters side. Tony's jump of 13' was enough to beat out KC who also had a strong outing with his jump of 12'6". For those who have competed with us at the summer meets, Tony is the one in charge of organizing the Indiana meets.

On the high school boy's side, Jason Deem claimed his first overall meet win of the year with his jump of 14'6". The highlight of the day was arguably the two boys who came away with new PRs, Zach Callahan and Brady Glass. Callahan's jump of 12' was a 6" improvement and has the potential to land him a ticket to Indoor State. Glass, who last month set a club record 4 pr's in a single meet, added another pr (11') to his fantastic start of his senior year. Also likely punching his ticket to indoor state was Curtis Rempe with a jump of 13'6".

Winning on the girl's side was Ashlyn Schwab (12') from Indiana. Top QCVA jump came from Sophomore, Claire Iaciofano. Iaciofano tied her pr of 11'6" putting her tied for 2nd in the state. Right behind her, likely also punching a ticket to indoor state was Freshman, Shannon Main, who cleared 10'6" for a high school pr. The D2 Duo of Samantha Ringhand and Addi Hamilton both cleared 10' which should be enough to take them to indoor state as well.
